Warner Music NashvilleAshley McBryde’s debut album for Warner Nashville, Girl Going Nowhere, arrives today, just as her debut single becomes her first top-40 hit.
If Ashley ever doubted “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” was catching on, the audiences on her current tour with Luke Combs have eased her fears. At their show last month at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, the Arkansas native got to experience a moment she’s waited for her whole life.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted this thing to happen where you, like, do the beginning riff and people lose their minds, right?” she tells ABC Radio. The first few bars of “Dive Bar” were enough to make her vision a reality.
“I was like, ‘The thing happened!’” Ashley continues. “And my mom was there to see it. That’s even more important than me being there to hear that happen, was my family to be there and see that happen.”
The crowd continued to sing the lyrics of “Dive Bar,” as well as the early tracks released from Girl Going Nowhere.
“They sang along to ‘Tired of Being Happy’ and ‘American Scandal,’ and I’m looking at the guys going, ‘You hear this? They’re singing along.’ And they’re like, ‘Yes. Play your guitar,’” Ashley laughs.
Ashley can expect more singing along next Tuesday, as she plays The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood. Girl Going Nowhere is available in stores and online now.
