New music, new tour, and her health: Carrie Underwood answers all in new letter to her fans

UMG NashvilleThere’s been lots of mystery surrounding Carrie Underwood ever since she suffered a serious fall last November, breaking her wrist and suffering a facial injury that required close to fifty stitches. Now she’s clearing the air and revealing all, in an open letter to her fans.

“First off, physically, I’m doing pretty darn good these days!” she says, in the note posted early Tuesday. “My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there…and the docs say that last 10% will come in time. And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well. I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while.”

The American Idol winner goes on to say the silver lining has been getting to spend more time with her son Isaiah and her husband Mike Fisher, who came out of retirement to play for the Nashville Predators again this season.

In the letter, Carrie also reveals she’s stepping up to co-produce her next album for the first time, along with writer/producer David Garcia. She co-wrote the first single, “Cry Pretty,” with the Nashville writing trinity known as the Love JunkiesHillary LindseyLiz Rose, and Lori McKenna. They’re perhaps best known for writing Little Big Town’s smash, “Girl Crush.”

As for “Cry Pretty,” due Wednesday at 6 a.m. ET, Carrie says, “The title refers to when emotions take over you and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!’

In addition to her new album, Carrie reveals a tour is also in the works. You can read the full letter at CarrieUnderwood.fm.
