ABC/Craig SjodinLuke Bryan has a tough job on American Idol, figuring out which contestants get sent home and which ones go through to the next round. In an interview with Extra at the ACM Awards on Sunday in Las Vegas, the singer admits that some fans are angry at his decisions.
“I wasn’t prepared for the fans to get so mad at me for people that we send home, but we have to send somebody home,” he reasons.
The “Most People Are Good” singer admits that he’s even received some hate mail over several contestants he sent home. Some of those hurtful messages include: “I’m ripping up tickets to your concert,” “You’re awful,” and “You’re a horrible human being!”
Sounds pretty harsh, but maybe Luke will take a cue from his latest number one single and remember that most people are, in fact, good.
American Idol returns tonight at 8:00 ET/7:00 CT on ABC.
