Mitchell convenience store robbery suspect arrested in Iowa

Mitchell Police say eighteen-year-old convenience store robbery suspect Montez McClain is in custody.

“Police in Davenport, Iowa happen to notice him at a pharmacy and then arrested him without incident,” said Lieutenant Don Everson.

He says McClain apparently left Mitchell following an April 12th robbery at Easy Come Easy Go. Court documents say he got away with around $800 in cash and rolled change.

A combination of video footage, the clerk’s description and a tip from the public helped identify McClain as a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued.

McClain now faces extradition to South Dakota to answer a second-degree robbery charge.

Second-degree robbery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and or a $20,000 fine plus restitution.
