Carrie Underwood unveiled the music video for “Cry Pretty,” the first single from her upcoming album of the same name, on Sunday night.
The emotional video shows the 35-year-old country superstar crying in the shower and while looking at her image in the mirror, but putting on a brave face as she performs for her fans.
Carrie first performed the song at last month’s ACM Awards, marking her first official public appearance since the November accident that left her with a broken wrist and over 40 stitches to her face.
Underwood, American Idol‘s season 4 champ, chose Sunday night’s episode of the show to preview the music video before posting it minutes later on YouTube.
Idol host Ryan Seacrest also revealed on Sunday night’s show that the top five contestants will jet to Nashville and spend the week being mentored by Carrie. She’ll also perform on next week’s American Idol.
Carrie’s American Idol appearance airs Sunday, May 13, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and her Cry Pretty album comes out September 14.
