The GreenRoomDierks Bentley sets his Mountain High Tour in motion Friday but before he hits the road, the Arizona native wanted to do a good deed at home in Middle Tennessee.
Dierks, his band, crew and openers LANCO spent Monday packing more than 10,000 pounds of food at Second Harvest Food Bank, as part of the non-profit’s Hunger Free Summer campaign. That adds up to more than 8,600 meals that will help feed families in need when school’s not in session.
“Typically when a tour is a about to launch, you get your band and crew together for some drinks before the run, but I wanted to make sure we did something different this year,” Dierks explains. “We got everyone together to really start off with what it’s all about for me right now: gratitude.”
“The more we get to do and grow out there on the road,” Dierks continues, “the more I want to make it all mean something and Second Harvest is doing great work to make a difference in our community.”
Brothers Osborne couldn’t be along for Monday’s outing, as they’re just returning from a tour of the U.K. and Ireland. They’ll be there Friday, however, when the Mountain High trek launches in Columbia, Maryland.
