It’s “Meant to Be”: FGL ties the record they set with their debut single, “Cruise”

ABC/Image Group LA Any way you look at it, Florida Georgia Line is the most successful duo or group in the history of Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs tally. Their collaboration with Bebe Rexha, “Meant to Be,” is currently spending its 24th week atop the 59-year-old chart.

That ties the record FGL set with their debut single, “Cruise,” back in 2012-2013.

“[It’s] crazy to see how this song has taken on a life of its own and hear that it’s making chart history,” Brian Kelley tells Billboard. “Bebe is part of our tribe now, and it’s been magic to see fans from all over the globe react to such a special song.”

Brian’s musical partner, Tyler Hubbard, agrees, saying, “As songwriters, BK and I aspire to create music that makes a difference. For us to have not only one but two songs that tie each other has gone far beyond our wildest dreams.”

“Meant to Be” and “Cruise” are tied as the second most successful songs in the history of the Hot Country Songs Chart. Sam Hunt still holds the overall record, with last year’s “Body Like a Back Road.” To equal Sam’s feat, “Meant to Be” will have to hang on to the top spot for 34 weeks — just ten more weeks to go.
