ABC/Image Group LA Michael Ray‘s new album, Amos, is named for his late grandfather, who inspired him to pursue a career in country music. And Michael says “Summer Water” is a track Amos would’ve loved.
Perhaps more than any other song on the record, “Summer Water” paints a picture of what it was like for Michael growing up in the Sunshine State.
“I have so many memories from my childhood, my teenage years, even my young adult years, that all involve time spent on the water,” the native Floridian says. “That’s where you learned to fish when you were a kid, it’s the place you met up with your buddies on the weekend and even now it’s where I go with my dad to just talk about life.”
“My grandfather did the same thing with my dad,” he reflects. “It’s generational for us and something I know I’ll do with my kids down the road.”
You can stream or download “Summer Water” now ahead of the June 1 release of Amos. Michael’s set to perform the record’s lead single, “Get to You,” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show June 4.
