“This One’s for You Too”: Luke Combs ascends to #1, as he looks ahead to album #2

ABC/Randy HolmesJust days after the release of the deluxe edition of Luke Combs‘ debut album, titled This One’s for You Too, his third single, “One Number Away,” ascends to the top of the country chart.

The North Carolina native has already been hard at work on his sophomore album as well.

“I’ve been working. I was in the studio in January…” he tells ABC Radio. “We recorded 20 songs in 7 days, all songs that I wrote with my buddies.”

“So we’re trying to kind of sort through what we’re going to do,” he continues, “and how we’re going to arrange the next project and what we want it to be. So I’m sure I’ll write a bunch more songs over the next year.”

Once he wraps the High Noon Neon Tour with Jason Aldean in the fall, Luke will get busy finishing album number two.

“We’re pretty much done touring at the end of October,” he explains, “so I would love to go back in the studio in November and December and record some stuff that I write for the rest of the year, and then have a big pile of 40 songs, and go, ‘What are the best 12 or 14 songs that we have?’ And put that out. Because I always want the best song to win. That’s always kind of been my thing.”

This Friday night, Luke plays the main stage at Nissan Stadium at CMA Fest in Nashville.
