ABC/Image Group LA A week before their self-titled third album comes out, Dan + Shay are releasing one of the most anticipated tracks from the record: “Keeping Score,” their collaboration with Kelly Clarkson.
Shay Mooney proves he can hold his own with Kelly’s powerhouse vocals on the emotional ballad, co-written by Dan Smyers.
“It is such an honor for us to sing this duet with Kelly,” Dan says. “Not only is she one of the most incredible vocalists of our generation, she is one of the most genuine, kind-hearted people we have ever met. We’re glad this song resonated with her as much as it did with us.”
This is the fifth preview track the duo has put out from Dan + Shay, which is set to arrive June 22. Its lead single, “Tequila,” is currently in the top five.
It’s worth noting that Kelly already has a pretty impressive history on the country chart. She and Jason Aldean went to #1 with “Don’t You Wanna Stay” in 2011, following a #2 duet version of “Because of You” with her mother-in-law Reba McEntire in 2007.
“Keeping Score” is available to stream or download now, or you can check out its “Icon” video on YouTube.
