ABC/Mark LevineIf you follow your favorite country stars on social media, you’ve no doubt seen their posts warning about fake accounts. Now, Music City is coming together to help fight the fakes, on a new website called Nashville for Social Media Safety.
A who’s who of artists support the effort: Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Maren Morris, Old Dominion, Rascal Flatts, Cole Swindell, Jake Owen, Brett Young, Jon Pardi, Dustin Lynch, Kip Moore, Michael Ray, Lindsay Ell, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, Brooks & Dunn and more.
The site reminds fans that “your favorite artists have not and will not ever ask you for your personal information or anything like that” and also gives detailed information about how to report the imposters on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
You can check out the site at SocialMediaSafetyNashville.com, and also watch a new YouTube video that reminds fans of an important fact: If there’s not a blue circle with a white check mark next to the stars’ names, it’s a fake.
