Miranda Lambert says she shut down interview plans after being asked “How do you feel about Gwen?'”

ABC/Image Group LA Miranda Lambert has done very few interviews since her The Weight of These Wings album came out in late 2016, and in a new extended chat with journalist Holly Gleason for Hits Daily Double, she explains why.

The reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year vowed she’d be silent until the double record was released and folks had had a chance to listen to it.  But when she finally decided to talk to the media, she says, it didn’t quite work out.

“When the music was out, people had listened, [and] I got on the phone for the first interview,” she tells Hits Daily Double. “First question was, “How do you feel about Gwen?” I hung up. I told [my manager] Marion [Kraft], I just can’t do this.”

Gwen, of course, was Gwen Stefani, the girlfriend of Miranda’s ex-husband, Blake Shelton. Miranda and Blake had split in the summer of 2015, more than a year before her current album was released.

Next up for Miranda is her Bandwagon tour with Little Big Town — and she’s also planning to head back into the studio with her pals Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley to work on a new Pistol Annies record. The three haven’t released an album together since 2013’s Annie Up.

“It’s fun,” she says of the collaboration. “It’s a slumber party with songwriting.”
