If things had gone differently, “A Guy Walks into a Bar” hitmaker Tyler Farr might be the one singing Jason Aldean‘s latest smash, “Drowns the Whiskey.”
“I was actually producing some sides on Tyler Farr, a couple years back…” Jason recalls, “And it was a song that I actually wanted to record on him. We ended up not recording it on him. And so, I told him if he didn’t cut it, I was gonna cut it. So I did.”
Of course, the other magic ingredient in the “Drowns the Whiskey” mix is Jason’s duet partner, Miranda Lambert.
“I’d been looking for something to do with her for a while, because we had cut a song on my second album called ‘Grown Woman’…” Jason explains. “I just always thought our voices sounded really good together, you know, they blended really well.”
Ultimately, Miranda agreed with Jason that “Drowns the Whiskey was the right song.”
“The song wasn’t written as a duet or anything, but I just thought she would sound great on it,” the three-time ACM Entertainer of the Year says. “Because it’s a little more on the traditional side, which she tends to lean toward a little bit. So I sent it, and she jumped on it, and came in, and you heard the rest.”
“Drowns the Whiskey” is currently on track to be Jason and Miranda’s latest #1.
