Chris Young’s infectious “Hangin’ On” will get in your head and make you wave your hands

RCA Nashville If you can’t get Chris Young’s latest hit, “Hangin’ On,” out of your head, you’re just like lots of other folks Chris is seeing on the road these days.

In fact, the Tennessee native says it’s making lots of fans put their hands in the air, too.

“One of my favorite things about this song is it’s one you just want to wave your hands to,” Chris explains. “It just has that beat that even live, I’ll get people as we are [singing] ‘Hangin’ on, hangin’ on,’ …everybody wants to do it.”

It illustrates a phenomenon one of Chris’s heroes told him about earlier in his career.

“I got told a long time ago by another artist,” Chris recalls, “’Never try to get a crowd to do something they don’t want to do… Figure out what they already want to do, and encourage it.’”

“It’s one of those that makes you want to do that,” he continues, “and the crowd you can see in the video, they’re moving along to the song.”

The “Hangin’ On” music video was shot in Clearwater, Florida, and Chris says folks who weren’t even part of his audience got caught up in the movement.

“What you can’t see is there’s another bar that’s behind that,” he says of the shoot. “People who weren’t even there for us were doing it and singing along to the song.”

“I was like, ‘This is a good sign.’ I don’t know what that means in the end, but it does seem to be one of those that’s just kind of an infectious song for people. It gets in their heads and I love it,” Chris smiles.

Next month, Chris resumes his sold-out Losing Sleep World Tour, with Kane Brown and Morgan Evans joining him for the fall leg.
