ABC/Lou RoccoIt’s been a tough week for Lauren Alaina, and now she’s been forced to cancel her appearance at the Labor Day weekend country music festival in Panama City, Florida.
“Due to a family medical emergency, Lauren Alaina will not be performing at this weekend’s Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam,” a message on her socials reads. “She is grateful to all the fans for the outpouring of love during this time and hopes to see you all soon.”
While Lauren hasn’t revealed exactly what’s going on, she’s previously been very forthcoming about her stepfather Sam Ramker’s battle with stage four cancer. According to an update on his GoFundMe page by Lauren’s mother Kristy, Sam has been in ICU this week.
Lauren’s stepfather received his diagnosis earlier this year, the very same week Lauren found out she’d won the ACM New Female Vocalist trophy.
However, her nomination for New Artist of the Year at the CMAs brought her some comfort on Tuesday.
“God always shines some light in a time of darkness,” she shared. “It’s been a tough week for my family but this brightened everything up a little.”
