ABC/Mark LevineKelsea Ballerini has been named the fifth coach of The Voice, but not the broadcast version. Kelsea will join the singing competition as host of a new online series called Comeback Stage, where she’ll mentor six singers who auditioned during The Voice Blind Auditions but didn’t make the cut.
“Y’all, I have been SO excited to share that I’m joining the @nbcthevoice family this fall as the 5th coach for the first ever ‘Comeback Stage,'” Kelsea shares on Instagram. “It’s been such a new, fulfilling challenge and I’ve been beyond inspired by the artists I’ve gotten to meet and work with. I can’t wait for you to fall in love with them.”
In another clip for the new series, the “I Hate Love Songs” singer explains that she personally selected six artists to come back to the competition. “None of them turned a chair but all of them have something incredibly special about them,” Kelsea says.
Kelsea will coach these six artists through a series of comeback battles. Only two contestants will have the chance to compete for America’s votes while one will be selected for the final spot of The Voice Top 13 live show, which begins in November. “They’re gonna shock everyone,” Kelsea promises.
Comeback Stage will air on YouTube, The Voice official app, Instagram TV, Facebook and NBC.com beginning Sept. 24, the same day season 15 of The Voice returns on NBC.
