Sony Music Nashville Even though Kane Brown is one of the most-nominated country artists at next month’s American Music Awards, the “Lose It” hitmaker is still pretty low-key about the whole affair.
“It feels great, man, because I’m still new to the game,” he tells ABC Radio. “So just being nominated, you know, you just feel accomplished for the work that you’re doing.”
Kane will vie for Male Artist, Album and Song for “Heaven” in the country categories during the Tuesday, October 9 AMAs on ABC.
After that, he’ll focus his attention on his second album, titled Experiment, which comes out November 9. Just like the title suggests, Kane’s taking some chances on record #2.
“I’m just all over the place,” he says. “We’ve got a swampy song on it, we have like an older-nineties-sounding country song. So there’s R&B mixed with country. It’s all over the place.”
So has Kane debuted any of the new music in concert yet?
“I’ve played ’em acoustic. I haven’t really played ’em full-band yet,” he explains. “I’ve done it a lot different that what I usually do. Used to, I’d have had every song posted on social media, so [the fans] would know the songs when they came out. And now, I haven’t showed every song. So it’s really experimenting with everything.”
Kane admits the unexpected success of his debut made him nervous about the follow-up, but he feels like he’s ready with Experiment.
“We’ve got to go above and beyond that now,” he resolves, “and I feel like this record’s the one to do it.”
Tickets for Kane’s Live Forever Tour — his first headlining arena trek — go on sale to the public this Friday. The run kicks off January in Duluth, Georgia.
