ABC/Image Group LAChris Young and Chase Bryant recently spent some quality time with children fighting cancer. The country singers visited Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., and brought along My Special Aflac Duck to help offer some cheer to the young patients.
As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September, Aflac has brought its icon to life to help serve as a companion to children coping with cancer. The robotic duck comes with emoji cards and an interactive mobile app for kids to share their emotions and help communicate with their doctors and nurses.
“As soon as that smile hits their face and that lights up, it’s like everything else around them disappears,” Chase says in a video clip. “I hope it changes some kid’s life and I hope it keeps a kid fighting for tomorrow.”
Chris agrees, adding that the experience of gifting the interactive stuffed animal was a memorable one for him as well. “To be able to sit there face to face with kids today and see them actually engage and react and be excited about it, there’s nothing like that,” he admits. “It’s so cool to see.”
As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, Aflac will deliver the My Special Aflac Duck to children at hospitals across the country.
