ABC/Image Group LAOn Wednesday, “Burning House” hitmaker Cam will mark a career milestone, playing her first full show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.
“It’s my first headlining show at the Mother Church. I’m like probably gonna die that night,” the California native jokes. “That’ll be my thing: I’ll just go out after the show. I’ll just ride out into the sunset!”
After her summer tour with pop superstar Sam Smith, Cam’s put a lot of work into her first concert at the former home of the Grand Ole Opry.
“I’m so excited,” Cam beams. “I’ve planned this whole show. I kinda do this thing where I talk a lot and I sing and we have some special guests coming. It’s just my dream. Just livin’ my dream,” she smiles.
With Cam’s followup to her 2015 debut, Untamed, expected in the coming months, the singer/songwriter has released the track, “Road to Happiness,” as a taste of what’s on the way.
“I feel like it’s such a great snapshot of where I’m at right now, and understanding what really matters,” she says of the inspirational tune. “And that’s something I think a lot of people needed to hear, including myself.”
“I still remind myself,” she adds, “‘Be careful who you’re hanging around, because it absorbs into you.’ And sometimes you absorb things that aren’t your own ideas and your own goals, and you end up spinning your wheels for years if you’re not careful.”
Lucie Silvas will open Cam’s Wednesday night show at the Ryman.
