Riker Brothers for BMLG RecordsBrett Young will be honored as ASCAP’s 2018 Country Songwriter-Artist of the Year at the 56th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards.
The California native is being recognized for his hits “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Like I Loved You,” which are ASCAP’s most-played country songs this year. The performing rights organization will hand out its awards on Monday, November 12 at Nashville’s Renaissance Hotel.
“I have been with ASCAP from the very beginning, and they have always made me feel like a part of the family…” Brett reflects. “I… want to give a huge thank you to everyone in the songwriting community and in country music who welcomed me right away.”
“I moved to Nashville to be a songwriter,” he continues, “and it was a happy accident that I also became an artist. I’ve gotten better because I am lucky enough to get into rooms with incredible writers, and I do not take that for granted.”
The “Here Tonight” hitmaker is also nominated for New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards, which follow on Wednesday, November 14. You can tune in to see if he wins starting at 8 p.m. ET that day on ABC.
Brett’s sophomore album, Ticket to L.A., will be released on December 7.
