“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” is coming to Netflix: Julianne Hough and Kimberly Williams-Paisley to star in “Jolene”

ABC/Lou RoccoDolly Parton aims to pull at your Heartstrings with her upcoming Netflix series.

The entertainment legend’s eight-episode streaming anthology will be called Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, and premiere sometime in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Each one-hour installment will be based on one of her songs, with her classic “Jolene” up first.

Dolly will introduce each episode and appear in some of them, including the series premiere. In Jolene, she’ll play Babe, the “force of nature” who owns the honky tonk where the title character works.

Dancing with the Stars alum Julianne Hough will play Jolene, who’s described as a free spirit who’s trying to escape her Georgia hometown to chase her musical dreams.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley — wife of Dolly’s “When I Get Where I’m Going” duet partner, Brad Paisley — will play Emily, a mother and wife who’s starting a new chapter in her life. Actor Dallas Roberts will also star as Aaron, a husband and father on the verge of a midlife crisis.

All eight episodes of Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings are expected to debut at once, in keeping with the Netflix model.
