Scotty McCreery’s “Barefootin'” named National Song of the Year at 2018 Carolina Beach Music Awards

ABC/Image Group LAScotty McCreery‘s successful 2018 continues with recognition for his song “Barefootin.'”

Penned by Scotty, David Lee Murphy and Frank Rogers, “Barefootin'” was named National Song of the Year at the 2018 Carolina Beach Music Awards this past weekend.

“Barefootin'” is featured on Scotty’s latest album, Seasons Change, released in March. The song hit number one on the Beach Music Top 40 Chart in September.

“I was raised on beach music, so to be honored by the Carolina Beach Music Awards for National Song of the Year is really special,” Scotty said in a statement. “I had a lot of fun writing ‘Barefootin’ with David Lee and Frank, and I’m so happy that people are enjoying it. My wife and I have talked about taking shag dancing lessons. It could be fun to eventually shag dance to my own song.”

Scotty’s current single, “This Is It,” remains in the top 25 on the country charts. It was inspired by his proposal to now-wife, Gabi Dugal McCreery.
