RCA Nashville The list of superstars who’ll honor Dolly Parton as 2019’s MusiCares Person of the Year is growing: Vince Gill, Don Henley, Kacey Musgraves, and Willie Nelson are now set to take the stage February 8 in Los Angeles.
Mavis Staples and Linda Perry, who both worked with Dolly on the Dumplin’ soundtrack, are set to sing as well. They join previously-announced performers Chris Stapleton, Pink, Shawn Mendes, Norah Jones, Leon Bridges, Lauren Daigle, and Mark Ronson. A performance from Dolly herself will close out the evening.
Proceeds from the 29th year of the MusiCares fundraiser go to the charitable arm of The Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammys, to make sure “music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.”
Meanwhile, Dolly’s gearing up to promote Friday’s release of the Dumplin’ soundtrack. She’ll appear in both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. hours of NBC’s Today show on November 30, and on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as well.
Dolly’s set to do “Girl in the Movies” — a potential contender for the Oscars — on both shows.
