ABC/Image Group LADan + Shay raised more than $60,000 during a Pittsburgh benefit concert for Tree of Life Synagogue over the weekend. The duo headlined a show on Sunday at Byham Theater in Pennsylvania following the mass shooting there in October that killed 11 people.
According to a press statement, 1,200 people attended the event and contributed several thousand dollars to the cause. An exclusive, event-only t-shirt designed by Dan + Shay also helped to raise money for the synagogue. All of the proceeds made were donated to rebuilding the synagogue.
Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers is a native of Pennsylvania. He grew up in Wexford, about 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh.
