ABC/Image Group LAIf you want to see what Kelsea Ballerini’s Grammy nomination for Best Country Album for Unapologetically means to her, all you have to do is watch the Facetime with her mom she posted on social media.
Though there’s no sound on the clip, Kelsea and her mom both break into tears of happiness as the Knoxville native shares the news.
“This woman unapologetically moved to Nashville 10 years ago for me to make music and give it a fair shot,” Kelsea added. “I got to call her this morning and tell her about my second Grammy nomination.”
“There’s no volume,” she explains, “but her face says everything about this journey and the weight this album has to the people that know me closest.”
“Love you momma,” she closed.
Kelsea was nominated for the all-genre Best New Artist Grammy in 2017, alongside Maren Morris, though Chance the Rapper won.
This year, Kelsea competes against Port Saint Joe by Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde’s Girl Going Nowhere, Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour, and Chris Stapleton’s From A Room: Volume 2.
We’ll find out who wins on Sunday, February 10, when the Grammys are handed out live on CBS.
