ABC/Image Group LAThomas Rhett got autobiographical on his most recent #1, “Life Changes,” but now he’s getting philosophical with his latest single, “Sixteen.”
“You know, that song is the epitome of ‘the grass is always greener,'” he tells ABC Radio. “We’ve all been sixteen. If we haven’t been sixteen yet, we can’t wait to be sixteen.”
“And then when you get there, you’re just like, ‘Well, all my friends are going to college, and I can’t buy a lottery ticket,'” he says with a smile.
TR sees his final single from his Life Changes album as a reminder that we should enjoy the moment, instead of always wanting to press fast-forward.
“I feel like so many of us go through life,” he explains, “just always ‘can’t wait to get to the next step,’ when you really just should sit there and cherish it, because one day you’re gonna look back at it and be like, ‘Man, those were great times.'”
Thomas Rhett is likely to have some great times himself when he headlines one night of Luke Bryan‘s Crash My Playa fan getaway vacation January 25 in Riviera Maya, Mexico, before he heads to Australia in March.
