Cameron Spencer/Getty ImagesA year ago, British pop superstar Adele caused a sensation by dressing up like Dolly Parton on Instagram. Now, she’s dressed up as yet another pioneering female of country music: the late June Carter Cash.
June Carter Cash, who was married to the late country icon Johnny Cash, was a musician and songwriter in her own right, and a member of country’s famed Carter Family. A dancer, actress, author and philanthropist, she won five Grammys and co-wrote Cash’s classic hit “Ring of Fire.” She died in 2003.
Adele dressed up as Carter Cash in an old-fashioned high-necked lavender dress and a brunette wig, and as a prop, she held an autoharp, one of the instruments the late singer played. She captioned the photo, “June Carter Cash,” with a heart emoji.
It’s not known why Adele dressed up in the costume, but she took the picture in what looks to be the same location as she took the Dolly Parton photo. Maybe Adele has a friend who throws a costume party around the same time every year, in the same place?
In the past, Dolly’s revealed that she and Adele tried to coordinate a writing appointment, but they were never able to get their schedules to align.
