ABC/Lou RoccoIf you’ve seen the new Applebee’s commercial that features Dolly Parton’s hit, “Here You Come Again,” well, you’re clearly not the only one.
In fact, so many people are streaming and buying the #1 song from 1977 that it’s catapulted the 2003 collection Ultimate Dolly Parton into the top ten on Billboard’s country albums chart. That’s a 172% surge for the set, which sold 8,000 album equivalent units last week. It previously peaked at #20 on the chart in June of 2003.
Downloads of “Here You Come Again” itself are up 39% as well: The song sold 3,000 downloads last week.
It’s a phenomenon Dolly herself seems to be enjoying, even though the tune is one of the rare ones she didn’t write herself. Over the past few days, she’s shared the commercial itself on Twitter, as well as a link to a YouTube playlist made up of other ads she’s been involved with through the years.
Three versions of “Here You Come Again” — a new duet with Willa Amai, a remix, and the original — are also featured on the digital version of Dolly’s latest album, the Dumplin’ soundtrack.
