Courtesy of Carly PearceTonight two old friends take the stage together, as Russell Dickerson and Carly Pearce take their co-headlining tour to Carly’s home state of Kentucky.
“We called it the Way Back Tour — we go way back!” Russell explains. “That’s the point of the tour really, just to kinda celebrate our friendship… We’ve been in each other’s corners for a long time.”
“And to see her work so hard for so long,” Russell adds. “We both got our first number ones within like a month of each other. And so for that huge span of time [that we both struggled], to have that happen so close together, we just wanted to kinda celebrate, ’cause now we’re at the point where we can kinda pick where we want to play and pick who we want to tour with.”
If you come see the show, expect to see Russell and Carly spending lots of time onstage together.
“We’re gonna be out there the whole time, probably hanging out anyway,” he tells ABC Radio. “She was like, ‘We gotta do a duet together.’ I’m like, ‘Girl, we gotta do, like, eight duets together!'”
“‘Cause when’s the next time that we’ll get to share the stage together?” he asks. “And I really want to make it special for the fans and for both of us, too.”
After Thursday night’s show in Lexington, Kentucky, Russell and Carly play North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday night.
Coincidentally, Russell’s new single has the exact same title as Carly’s first number one: “Every Little Thing.” She’s currently climbing the chart with the lead release from her forthcoming sophomore album, “Closer to You.”
