The Georgia native was inducted on March 13, 1999 by Country Music Hall of Famer Porter Wagoner.
Trisha’s Opry memories are even more special now because of the institution’s link to her beloved mother, Gwen, who passed away in 2011.
“My mother came [to the Opry] on her senior class trip from South Georgia,” Trisha explains. “She wrote in her diary about seeing [Opry stars] Hank Snow, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and all those people.”
“When I was inducted as a member of the Opry in 1999,” she continues, “she brought her diary and got Hank Snow to sign it. So it’s not only about me, it’s also about my whole family.”
Trisha’s special Opry show will take place on Tuesday, March 12.
Next week, her Frank Sinatra tribute record, Let’s Be Frank, will be available everywhere, after being exclusive to Williams Sonoma stores since December.
