Luke Combs is becoming a frequent visitor to the top of the country chart, as “Beautiful Crazy” becomes his fifth number-one in a row. The tune’s also become a popular wedding song, which led to an awkward moment for the North Carolina native.
“We’ve had [fans send us] tons of wedding videos,” Luke explains, “and I actually went to a wedding awhile ago where they used that as the first dance, which was kinda weird. It was cool, obviously, but I was just kinda sitting there.”
“They played it on the loudspeaker…” he clarifies, “Everybody knew [it was my song], so everyone was looking at me. I’m like, ‘Look at them! Look at them do the first dance thing!'”
Ultimately, Luke finds it tremendously satisfying his music affects his fans so much.
“It’s really cool to know that something that you write can have that kind of impact on people,” he reflects, “and be something that they want to remember for the rest of their life.”
Luke himself will be headed down the aisle at some point, as he and fiancee Nicole Hocking revealed their engagement back in November. The two recently moved, and with Luke busy on the Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour, he admits they haven’t really started planning their wedding yet.
