Columbia Nashville
The much-anticipated second album by Maren Morris arrives on Friday, though some of her biggest fans have already been lucky enough to hear the new record.
The Texas native hosted preview sessions for GIRL all around the world, with stops in London, Dallas, and Nashville. Interestingly, Maren says favorite tracks varied by location.
“Every city’s been different…” she explains. “I remember in London the ones that they loved I think the most were songs like ‘A Song for Everything’ and ‘To Hell and Back,’ which were kind of more of the country-sounding ones.”
“And it’s funny,” she continues, “because the people that love country music over there are diehards for it and they love the songwriter-y aspect of a song.”
On the other hand, Maren wasn’t shocked to find her brothers and sisters in the Lone Star State were the rowdiest.
“It was cool to test out which crowds respond to what,” she adds. “And then in Dallas, which was a little more of a rambunctious bunch than the London crowd — because they’re so polite, even though they’re so into it. They’re just very respectful.”
“The Dallas crowd, they loved the sassier ones, which doesn’t surprise me, because it’s Texas. They loved ‘Flavor’ and ‘RSVP.'”
You can pick your own favorites: GIRL, which takes its name from Maren’s current top-thirty hit, is available now.
You can also tune in to livestream Maren’s first stop on GIRL: The World Tour starting Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. It’ll be live from Chicago via Amazon Music’s Facebook page.
