BMLGArkansas resident Justin Moore is getting back to his country roots with his new album, Late Nights & Longnecks…and there’s perhaps no better example of that than the new track, “Jesus and Jack Daniels.”
“Mama loved Jesus/Daddy loved Jack Daniels,” Justin sings on the stone-country chorus. “She was red-letter Heaven/He was Old No. 7.”
“Between the two of ‘em/Wasn’t nothin’ they couldn’t handle,” he continues, “Mama loved Jesus/Daddy loved Jack Daniels.”
At a listening session earlier this week in Nashville, Justin pointed out that even though he co-wrote the song, it’s not autobiographical: While his mom sometimes has a drink, his daddy doesn’t imbibe at all.
