ABC/Image Group LAReba McEntire pays tribute to the First Lady of Country Music, Tammy Wynette, in the latest preview track from her new album, Stronger Than the Truth.
The Country Music Hall of Famer says “Tammy Wynette Kind of Pain” is exactly what she envisioned for her hardcore country record.
“Wonderful song, wonderful song!” Reba says of the track co-written by singer/songwriter Brandy Clark. “It mentions all the song titles of Tammy’s.”
“Stand by Your Man,” “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” “Crying in the Rain,” “Til’ I Can Make It on My Own,” and “Golden Ring” are all part of the song that remembers the late legend whose life and music was often synonymous with heartbreak.
“And this ain’t no regular kind of hurt,” Reba explains. “This is a ‘Tammy Wynette Kind of Pain,’ so you can just imagine how this lady [in the song] is hurtin’.”
“Tammy Wynette Kind of Pain” is available to stream or download now, ahead of the April 5 release of Stronger Than the Truth. You can also check out a behind-the-scenes video in the studio of Reba recording the song.
