ABC/Image Group LAMidland debuted their new single “Mr. Lonely” during a performance this week at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, according to Billboard.
Mark Wystrach expects the follow-up to their #2 hit, “Burn Out,” will be out “in a couple of weeks,” ahead of the release of their sophomore album, which will likely arrive in late summer.
He goes on to say the record is “not a huge departure” from their 2017 debut, On the Rocks, but his bandmates Jess Carson and Cameron Duddy do each sing some lead vocals on the project
It “picks up where we left off on On The Rocks,” Mark tells Billboard. “It’s the result of a band that’s been on the road non-stop and has been writing and become confident in the studio. The foundation of it was…’Let’s go build our dream house.’”
During their South by Southwest set, Midland also unveiled the new track “21st Century Honky Tonk American Band,” and covered Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.”
