ABC RadioAs Kelly Clarkson’s Meaning of Life Tour came to a close this weekend, the pop superstar admitted she’d been “waiting for weeks” for a moment she was “super-excited” about: Country Music Hall of Famer Reba McEntire joined her for Friday’s A Minute and a Glass of Wine segment in Nashville.
Reba even seemed to get a little choked up as she walked onstage at Bridgestone Arena doing the pair’s duet version of Kelly’s hit, “Because of You.”
Of course, it’s no secret how much the two singers love each other: Kelly grew up idolizing Reba, and the two consider each other family, since Reba used to be married to Kelly’s husband’s dad.
The two powerhouse vocalists powered through a medley that included Reba’s first #1, “Can’t Even Get the Blues,” “Fancy,” and “Is There Life Out There.”
Kelly explained Reba had pointed out earlier that she didn’t HAVE to do so many songs, but Kelly admitted she’d insisted. Reba finished by doing her new single, “Freedom,” from her new album, Stronger Than the Truth, which comes out on Friday.
If you weren’t lucky enough to be in Nashville for the set, you can check it out on Kelly’s Facebook page.
Earlier in the night, Kelsea Ballerini delivered a flawless, nearly-hour-long performance that was nothing but hits, including her current country single, “Miss Me More,” as well as her collaboration with The Chainsmokers, “This Feeling.”
Kelsea and The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli returned near the end of the show to do “Miss Independent” with Kelly.
