Francis Specker/CBSCarrie Underwood admits that having a second child made her wonder if she’d still be able to sing.
The country star opened up to Entertainment Tonight ahead of the 2019 ACM Awards, revealing that she questioned her vocal ability after giving birth to her second son, Jacob, in January.
“My body is completely different than when it was a few months ago, and it’s always weird to kind of come back and be like ‘Do I still have it? Can I still sing?'” she explains on the red carpet.
“Because I had an obstruction in this area for nine months, and now it’s gone,” she continued, referring to her belly. “So there’s an adjustment period and this is kind of on the early side for me.”
She and husband Mike Fisher are also parents to son Isaiah, who was born in February 2015.
At the ACM Awards Sunday night, Underwood performed “Southbound,” from her album Cry Pretty. She also joined This Is Us star Chrissy Metz, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton and Maddie & Tae for a rendition of “I’m Standing With You,” a song Metz performs on the soundtrack for her new movie, Breakthrough.
