ABC/Image Group LADarius Rucker is continuing his tradition of giving back.
Rucker has announced the 10th annual Darius and Friends benefit concert for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It’ll take place on Monday, June 3 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, days before the kickoff of the 2019 CMA Music Festival.
The Hootie & the Blowfish star launched the event in 2010 to generate donations for St. Jude, a national organization based in Memphis that treats children with cancer and other life-threatening illness. Families never receive a bill, thanks to donations.
“This event is always special because I love seeing my friends come together to support St. Jude and the amazing work they’re doing for families,” Darius says.
“When we were planning the upcoming Hootie & the Blowfish tour, it was important to me that we kept this show on the schedule,” he adds. “Of all the exciting things to come this year, this night will still be a highlight.”
Darius will announce the concert lineup in the coming weeks. Past performers include Luke Bryan, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Combs and Brad Paisley.
Over the years, Darius has raised $1.6 million for St. Jude with the event.
Meanwhile, Darius and the rest of Hootie & the Blowfish will kick off a summer tour May 30 in Virginia Beach, VA.
