Warner NashvilleGet ready for a tour of “God’s Country”: The video for Blake Shelton’s hit — co-written by his label mate Devin Dawson — will arrive on Friday.
In the first preview clip Blake shared on social media, he stands on a cliff overlooking a field, a scene that’s juxtaposed with black-and-white scenes of Oklahoma’s dust bowl days. The song’s instrumental riff plays underneath.
In the subsequent tease, you hear Blake singing as he walks through the field, sifts dirt through his hands, and wades in a creek; that footage is intercut with still more washed-out scenes from the dust bowl era.
As you wait for Friday’s arrival of the full “God’s Country” video, you can watch “The Prequel” on YouTube now. Though the entire song plays during the clip, it’s mainly an artfully-shot video of a vintage tractor burning in a field.
If you watch closely, at one point you can see a shadowy figure who might very well be Blake.
