Today, new Sony artist Brandon Ratcliff sets out on Kelsea Ballerini‘s Miss Me More Tour with Brett Young.
It’s the first major outing for the Louisiana native, who just released his debut single, “Rules of Breaking Up.”
“Oh man, I mean when I got the call that Kelsea and Brett wanted me on the tour, I — as you can imagine — was freaking out,” Brandon tells ABC Radio. “I mean, we didn’t have a song out at the time.”
“And so, Kelsea just being able to hear what we do, and to want me on the tour was huge,” he continues. “And I have been nervous about it, I’ve been excited about it — all the feelings!”
Since Brandon’s mother, Suzanne Cox, is a member of the legendary, Grammy-winning bluegrass band The Cox Family, he’s been on tour before — just never as a featured performer. Though his family’s known for their bluegrass contributions to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack and the Down from the Mountain Tour, you’ll find that Brandon does something completely different.
“I can’t wait to get out there on the road,” he says. “I can’t wait to kind of go through the process of a tour. You know, because I’ve been on a tour before with my family, but it’s a little different when you’re playing,” he laughs.
He adds, “I’m really setting my sights on these next few months, as I know we’re going to be doing a lot of playing, and I’m looking forward to… getting to know the fans, and for them to kind of see these songs at this level.”
In addition to Brandon’s single, “Rules of Breaking Up,” you can also stream or download the track “Number in My Phone.”
Tonight, he plays Salisbury, Maryland with Kelsea and Brett.
