Listen now: Carrie Underwood heads “Southbound” for summer with new single

Capitol NashvilleCarrie Underwood’s stepping up the tempo with her new single from the Cry Pretty album: It’s the summer-themed “Southbound,” which she recently performed on the Academy of Country Music Awards.

“Summer dripping off of us/From the river bank to the party cove/Long as it floats, we’ll rock the boat,” Carrie sings. “It’s all looking up when we get down/And get a little southbound, southbound.”

The Oklahoma native’s ACM performance holds the distinction of being the largest production in the show’s 54-year-history, with its outdoor pool beginning, deejay, dancers, extras, and cameos by Carrie’s tour mates Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. If you missed it, you can check it out on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Carrie’s counting down to her Cry Pretty 360 Tour, which kicks off next week in Greensboro, North Carolina.
