The wait is on for the new single from Lady Antebellum, which could come any day. It’ll be the trio’s first release for Big Machine, after leaving their longtime home at Capitol Nashville.
The band is also pretty far along on their upcoming, eighth album.
“We’ve recorded six songs,” Hillary Scott reveals, “so we have half of the record left — about half — to cut later on this year.”
“So we’re still writing and searching,” she continues, “and honestly, just wanting to really put together a really special piece of art.”
Charles Kelley confesses that he, Hillary, and Dave Haywood have been going deep on this record.
“There’s definitely some fun songs,” he explains. “but it’s definitely a deeper record. It really is. I mean, there’s definitely a lot of layers being pulled back.”
“Hillary continues that thought, saying “I feel like we all know ourselves and each other better, and that only comes I think with age and being willing to look at yourself in the mirror honestly, you know.”
“Kids. Kids has done that,” Charles interjects.
“And kids for sure,” Hillary agrees. “That’s definitely a mirror.”
Collectively, Hillary, Dave, and Charles have six children between them, all under age five.
