Trisha Yearwood‘s comeback country single “Every Girl In This Town” is being embraced by fans and country radio in a big way, and she couldn’t be more excited.
During an appearance Monday night on hubby Garth Brooks‘ Facebook show Inside Studio G, Trisha exclaimed, “I just can’t believe this is happening!”
She added, “You never know what’s going to strike a chord, and I’m just…I’m happy that this song is striking a chord with people.”
The track, the lead single from what will be Trisha’s first country album of all new material album since 2007, had highest chart debut so far this year of any song by a female artist.
“I just thank you,” said Trisha. “I know that sounds simple, but…I’m overwhelmed. I’m grateful…I just keep smiling ear to ear.”
Garth, meanwhile, is a big fan of the song’s empowering message.
“I wish when our daughters were six, eight and ten that they would’ve had this song as an anthem for themselves,” he said.
Trisha’s new album — which she’s hinted may include a collaboration with Don Henley — is due out later this year.
