ABC/Image Group LAIt’s been nearly thirty years since Trisha Yearwood first appeared on the country chart with her 1991 breakthrough hit, “She’s in Love with the Boy.” The two-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year is still going strong, having just scored the highest debut of her career so far with her new single.
“Every Girl in This Town” debuts at #21 this week on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, even though it’s only been out since last Thursday.
It’s also the biggest debut for a country female so far this year, besting “Girl” by Maren Morris, which emerged at #28 in January. To find a female artist with a better debut week than Trisha, you have to go back to April of last year, when Carrie Underwood placed “Cry Pretty” at #20.
This is Trisha’s fiftieth single to make the Country Airplay chart. It’s also the first taste of her new country album, which is expected to arrive in late summer or early fall.
Meanwhile, Maren’s new collaboration with Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks, “Prove You Wrong,” also made an impressive first-week showing, debuting at #33.
