“It’s actually shocking that it has already been that long,” Blake tells People. “It’s kind of a blur. It still feels like it’s pretty new to me. I guess it is, relatively.”
“Four years isn’t forever, but man, it seems like it just happened in no time,” he adds.
Blake and Gwen’s relationship became public in the fall of 2015, after a summer that saw both of them file for divorce from their spouses Miranda Lambert and rocker Gavin Rossdale, respectively.
The competition is already heating up between Blake and Gwen on The Voice, where Blind Auditions are already underway.
“Getting excited to beat this guy on The Voice this season!” Gwen recently shared on her Instagram Story, along with a picture of Blake, who’s not quite ready to roll over.
“I’m glad that she’s already feeling competitive,” he responds. “Of course, I’m not going to let her win. I’m going to have to win, but I’m going to have to do it in a way that she doesn’t feel like I beat her.”
“I don’t know if that’s possible or not because I definitely don’t want to upset her,” he continues. “That’s not going to pay off for me in the long run.”
“This will be her fourth time on the show, so she’s no stranger to it. She knows what she’s doing.”
Blake remains the winningest Voice coach, having claimed victory six times.
He’s also winning on the country chart these days: His solo single, “God’s Country,” is at number three, while his duet with Garth Brooks, “Dive Bar,” just debuted in the top twenty-five.
