Big Machine Label GroupSheryl Crow and Chris Stapleton have teamed up for a new song, “Tell Me When It’s Over.”
The classic rock-style melody is supported by lyrics that speak from the perspective of someone who knows their relationship is coming to an end, and wants to break down the other person’s walls and reach their heart.
Sheryl takes lead vocals while Chris provides background harmonies; then, they unite to proclaim “Caught up in a dream/But I know it’s coming/See it in your face/You got a good thing going to waste/You keep on running away from love.”
The song was released alongside a lyric video designed as a a moving photo album, capturing shots of the two artists in the studio along with sepia-tone photos of the desert and wide open highways.
“Tell Me When It’s Over” is one of many collaborations on Sheryl’s upcoming Threads album, which features her singing with the likes of Stevie Nicks, Maren Morris, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris and more. There’s also a posthumous duet with the late Johnny Cash, “Redemption Day.”
Threads will be released on August 30.
