ABC/Mark LevineKeith Urban is breathing new life into his current single “We Were” with the release of an acoustic rendition of the tune.
Keith teased the new release in a Twitter post on Thursday and followed through with the delivery today. The new version replaces the banjo and slick production drums with acoustic guitar and piano, but Keith’s voice still shines through as he sings “At least there’s a little bit of sweet in the bitter/Though a part of me is always gonna miss her/I am who I am, I just miss who I was when we were.”
The superstar singer also offered yet another take on the song with a one-shot video that follows him inside the studio — from the sound board, to a candlelit studio booth where he performs the track on acoustic guitar, to outside, in front of a colorful mural — all in a single take.
“We Were” is currently in the top 20 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
