ABC/Image Group LA Jimmie Allen made it all the way to number one last November with his debut single, “Best Shot.” Now, almost a year later, he has his second top twenty hit with the follow-up, “Make Me Want To.” Still, he admits his five-year-old son Aadyn‘s not too terribly impressed with his success. In fact, Jimmie says he’s only focused on one thing.
“Nah, he doesn’t care,” he explains. “As long as I can take him to Disney, that’s all he cares about. Because I remember, he was like, ‘So Dad, when are we going to Disney World again?’ I was like, ‘Ah, maybe a few months.'”
“He was like, ‘Well, why can’t we go now?'” Jimmie continues. “I said, ‘We can’t.’ He said, ‘Yes we can.’ He said, ‘Planes leave the airport all the time.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, but we gotta pay for it.'”
Jimmie laughs, “He said, ‘No you don’t. I still got my Magic Band.’ I said, ‘But I put money on the Magic Band.’ He said, ‘I didn’t see you put any money on it. Let’s go!'”
Well, it’s hard to get the last word with a five-year-old, after all. But Jimmie says later on, he tried to illustrate the point for his son at a show in his home state.
“He got to come to my show in Delaware,” he tells ABC Audio. “And I was trying to explain, ‘When Daddy leaves, this is where he’s going. This is what he’s doing, so we can go to Disney, so we can have time together, so I can pay for school and stuff like that.”
“He’s like, ‘Okay, Daddy I get it. So now can we go to Disney World?'”
“I’m like, ‘Man! Alright! Yeah. Let’s go!'”
