Bring My Grammys Now: Tanya Tucker leads country nominees for 2020 awards

The Recording AcademyTanya Tucker is the surprise front runner when it comes to country nominees at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, grabbing four mentions, including a nod for all-genre Song of the Year for “Bring My Flowers Now.”

The track also vies for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, in addition to a Best Country Album nom for While I’m Livin’.

Eric ChurchDan + Shay and Ashley McBryde each have two chances to win, along with Miranda Lambert, who’s nominated both for Best Country Song for “It All Comes Out in the Wash” and Best Country Album for Pistol Annies’ Interstate Gospel.

Reba McEntire gets an unexpected nod in that same category for her 2019 effort, Stronger than the Truth.

Perhaps the most obvious omission? Grammy favorite Maren Morris is missing from the three country categories that would typically apply. She shows up, however, in Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the GIRL track, “Common,” with Brandi Carlile, who also shares in all of Tanya Tucker’s nominations as a producer/writer.

Meanwhile, the Lil Nas X phenomenon continues as the rapper pulls six nominations, including one for the prestigious all-genre Record of the Year for “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus.

Dolly Parton also gets noticed in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category for “Girl in the Movies,” one of the tunes from the Dumplin’ soundtrack.
