Capitol NashvilleTo the capacity crowd in Nashville’s Nissan Stadium Sunday night, it might have seemed that Little Big Town put together their performance with the Born Again Church Choir and Pharrell Williams in response to the tragedies in Orlando this weekend. But in fact, their uplifting number was planned weeks ago.
“We cut a song with Pharrell called ‘Miracle’ and it was the first thing that we wrote with him,” Karen Fairchild reveals. “It’s about healing and about that we’re knee deep in struggle, there’s so much trouble, and we need a helping hand. And we need Heaven to send us a miracle. Well, what divine timing that we would wake up to this horrible news this morning and know that we’re gonna sing ‘Miracle’ tonight.”
Along with the CMA Vocal Group of the Year’s inspirational performance comes a determination to make sure that good ultimately triumphs over evil.
“All I can say is for me, music is the ultimate healer, and we will not let the haters destroy what we love and enjoy,” Karen asserts. “And we will not live in fear of this, and tonight is gonna to be a celebration of life and love and harmony and we’re going to remember those lives that were lost and we’re gonna celebrate them tonight and we are not gonna let the negative tell us what we’re gonna do.”
“Miracle” is one of the tracks on Little Big Town’s new album Wanderlust, which came out on Friday.
